It is so funny to see how roles evolve when things pop up that no one is clearly responsible for. The most entertaining of these include "chores." Ordering supplies, cleaning the kitchen, actually saying we are out of a given supply, etc.
My motherly instincts and affinity for cleaning have often forced me into the role of office house keeper. This morning, after the fridge started smelling SO BAD that it was making people nausiated opening the door, I decided to 'go in' and throw away anything questionable, attack surfaces with 409 and goo gone. I put a note on the fridge, which I thought long and hard about.
Nothing irritates me more than someone asking people to do something and being a dick about it. Example: "Your mom doesn't work here, clean up after yourself." I am sarcastic and often abrasive by default, but when i really care about people actually following through with something, I try my best to shy away from this approach. Instead I wrote a note that said:
Cleaning up after yourself makes others happy and respectful. Please be kind!
Hopefuly this is somewhere in the middle of the road. I fully do not expect it to work, however :) My very own experiment on minds at the workplace...ahhhhh.
Vox designs are very cool.
